economyAccording to the latest statistics, the national unemployment rate is 8.8 (as of March 2011), compared to the national rate of 9.6 for 2010. The healthcare industry has added 283,000 jobs over the last 12 months; 37,000 of those were added in March 2011; 34,000 in February 2011; and 11,000 in January 2011. Despite the growing statistics, the number of job seekers looking for employment remains relatively high.

budgetA new survey released today by the College of Health Information Management Executives (CHIME) has found that healthcare CIOs are less confident than previously reported when it comes to qualifying early for stimulus funding. Compared with an earlier survey conducted in August, the percentage of CIOs who expect their organizations to qualify for electronic health records incentives dropped by half.
